NATRASOL HI-VIS is a non-ionic, ultra-high molecular weight HEC (hydroxyethylcellulose) designed specifically to viscosify water-based drilling fluids. The free-flowing powder has been surface-treated to disperse rapidly and dissolve easily in water. The resulting polymer solution is clear, viscous and essentially residue-free.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Provides a low-solids, cost-effective viscosifier for completion and workover fluids, spud muds, low-solids drilling fluids and fracturing fluids.
Exhibits a shear-thinning (pseudoplastic) behavior.
Under high shear at the bit, the apparent viscosity thins, thereby increasing penetration rates.
In low-shear zones such as in the annulus, viscosity is regained instantaneously, providing
excellent suspending properties for optimum hole cleaning.
Is compatible with other drilling fluid additives such as biocides, oxygen scavengers and
corrosion inhibitors.
Will viscosify fresh water, sea water and salt solutions up to saturation.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

2 – 50 kg/m³ or more depending on the application.

Note: Laboratory testing is recommended for optimum concentration for an application.

Viscosity: 4400 – 6500 cP (1% water, 25°C)

MIXING/HANDLING:

Mix directly through the hopper. NATRASOL HI-VIS solution prepared in pH neutral waters is rapid; cold water will require a longer hydration time. Refer to the SDS for specific precautions and handling requirements.
