SALT (NaCl) or sodium chloride, is an inorganic salt with a minimum 98.8% purity.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Used in salt saturated mud systems, invert oil emulsions, workover and completion fluids.
Prevents washouts when drilling thick salt formations by saturating the mud with salt.
In oil emulsions, is used as a salinity source to provide an activity balance between the
mud’s brine phase and formation water.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

The approximate SODIUM CHLORIDE concentration can be calculated by using the
formula: 1.65 X mg/L Cl- = mg/L NaCl

At 22°C, a concentration of 320 kg/m³ is required to completely saturate a system.

MIXING/HANDLING:
