Petro-Tone

PETRO-TONE is a wet process organophilic clay used to provide viscosity and suspension properties to invert emulsion drilling fluids. PETRO-TONE is easily dispersed, self-activating and effective in both distillate and mineral oil-based invert emulsion fluids.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

5-12 kg/m³ (distillate-based fluids)
7-15 kg/m³ (mineral-based fluids)

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

Appearance: Off-white powder; odourless
Specific Gravity: 1.4-1.8
Solubility: Slightly soluble in water

MIXING/HANDLING:

Mix through a mixing hopper slowly; a small stream of water may be run to accelerate hydration. As with most organoclays, adequate shear and time are required to form a stable emulsion. Refer to SDS for specific handling requirements.
